usage

不育 is the medical term, gender-neutral. Traditional language drew a distinction: 不孕 (búyùn) for women who cannot conceive (孕 = pregnancy), 不育 for couples unable to produce a child. Modern Chinese medicine uses 不育 for both sexes.
