The Xi Jiang is the westernmost and longest of the three main branches of the Pearl River system (with
北江 and
东江), and historically the main commercial artery between Guangxi, Guangdong and Macau/Hong Kong. Not to be confused with
西江千户苗寨, the famous Miao village in Guizhou (same two characters, different place — that
西江 is pronounced the same but is a village name, not the river).
