history

Founded in Nanjing in 1990 by Zhang Jindong (张近东) as an air-conditioner shop, Suning grew into one of China's two biggest appliance chains (alongside 国美 Gome). It rebranded online as 苏宁易购 (Suning.com) and has owned Inter Milan since 2016. Heavy losses forced the family to give up control in 2021.
