The core
端午礼物 item is
粽子 (sticky-rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves), traditionally paired with
咸鸭蛋 (salted duck eggs) and
雄黄酒 (realgar wine). The festival commemorates the poet
屈原 (Qu Yuan, 340–278 BCE), who drowned himself in the Miluo River; villagers threw rice dumplings in the water to stop fish eating his body.
