Tips
usage
Most common in the set phrase 字字珠玑 (zì zì zhūjī) 'every word a pearl', used to praise speech or writing. 珠 = round pearl, 玑 = irregular pearl — together they cover 'all kinds of pearls'.
register
Strongly literary. In speech use 精彩 (jīngcǎi) or 妙语 (miàoyǔ). 珠玑 mainly appears in book reviews, eulogies, formal compliments and classical-flavored prose.
