Qingming — rain falls and falls; on the road, the traveler's spirit breaks. 'Where can a tavern be found?' The cowherd points afar toward Apricot Blossom Village.

history
The closing line of Du Mu's (杜牧) Late Tang quatrain 《清明》: 清明时节雨纷纷,路上行人欲断魂。借问酒家何处有?牧童遥指杏花村。 One of the most recognizable verses in Chinese literature. 杏花村 has since been claimed by several villages — most famously the one in Fenyang, Shanxi, home of Fen jiu (汾酒) liquor.
culture
The line has become inseparable from Fen jiu marketing: the Shanxi distillery trademarked 杏花村 in the 20th century, making Du Mu an accidental spokesman. Qingming Festival (tomb-sweeping day) is the dramatic setting for the rainy, melancholic scene.
