淋巴 (línbā) is itself a phono-semantic loan for "lymph" (the 巴 just lends sound). Add 瘤 (liú, "tumor") and you get "lymph-tumor". The same 瘤 ending appears in 肿瘤 zhǒngliú (tumor), 脑瘤 nǎoliú (brain tumor).
