usage
没事 has multiple uses: (1) 'it's okay / no problem' as a response, (2) 'are you alright?' in 你没事吧?, (3) 'to be free / have nothing to do' as in 我没事.

没事 is very colloquial and extremely common in daily conversation. The more formal equivalent is 没关系 (it doesn't matter).
