history
Developed by Song dynasty (960–1279) woodblock printers — vertical strokes thick, horizontal strokes thin, with small triangular 'feet' at the ends of horizontals. The same lineage became 明朝 (Mincho) in Japan. Modern default body-text face for Chinese publishing.
