history
Developed by Song dynasty (960-1279) woodblock printers - vertical strokes thick, horizontal strokes thin, with small triangular 'feet' at the ends of horizontals. The same lineage became 明朝体 (Mincho) in Japan. Modern default body-text face for Chinese publishing.
