The saying "like father, like son" can be traced back to the Kongcongzi.
Tips
history
Traditionally credited to 孔鲋, a descendant of Confucius in the last years of the Qin, it was probably put together much later, perhaps in the third century AD. Its stories show Confucius and later members of the Kong family, above all 子思, talking with rulers and students.
memory
丛 'a collection' + 子 'a master's book': the collected sayings of the Kong masters. Passages in it lie behind 有其父必有其子 and 龙凤呈祥.
