2indexing radical for characters topped by a small downward-foot shape
Tips
usage
夂 is the small downward-foot top of characters like 各, 处, 备, 复, 夏, 冬. Visually nearly identical to 夊 (#35); the two are usually merged in modern dictionaries.
history
Xinhua glosses 夂 as 从后送到 — to deliver from behind. Together with 夊 it represents a foot moving slowly downward, the trace of a person walking that survives in characters about following or arriving.
