医科大学 was a dedicated medical university (e.g.
中国医科大学 in Shenyang,
南京医科大学). Since 2000, many have been merged into comprehensive universities —
北京医科大学 became
北京大学医学部,
上海医科大学 became
复旦大学上海医学院 — though the old names still circulate.
