伉 is literary. By far its most common modern use is 伉俪, a formal, respectful word for a married couple — the kind used on wedding cards and in polite writing.
Right is 亢 (high, haughty), giving the sound kàng exactly with an overtone of standing tall and proud. The same phonetic appears in 抗 (to resist) and 炕.
