丰腴

A polite, even complimentary alternative to 胖 (pàng, 'fat'). 丰腴 evokes the Tang-dynasty ideal of feminine beauty embodied by 杨贵妃 (Yáng Guìfēi) — voluptuous rather than slim. For modern usage, prefer 丰腴 over 胖 when describing a woman in a positive light; for fertile land or rich prose it's purely literary.
