Strictly speaking 万圣节 is All Saints' Day (Nov 1), and Halloween itself is 万圣节前夜 or 万圣夜, but in Chinese everyday usage 万圣节 always means October 31st. Shanghai's 2023 Halloween became a massive public costume event and a minor social flashpoint.
