history

In 1650 a collector who loved the scroll ordered it burned so that it could go with him to the grave. It was pulled from the fire in two pieces: the short first part, 剩山图, is kept in Hangzhou, and the long main part in Taipei.

He is one of the Four Masters of the Yuan, 元四家, with 吴镇, 倪瓒 and 王蒙.
