Gaochun's 固城湖 (Gucheng Lake) is one of the top producers of 大闸蟹 — hairy crabs. Locals claim theirs rival the more-famous Yangcheng Lake crabs. The district is also designated an 'International Slow City' (国际慢城) — the first in Asia, 2010.
