Created by 颜真卿 (709-785): thick, even strokes and square, upright frames, often read as a portrait of his own loyalty. The saying 颜筋柳骨 ('Yan's sinews, Liu's bones') sets it against the leaner 柳体. Beginners usually copy the steles 多宝塔碑 or 颜勤礼碑.
