韵文 (verse) and
散文 (prose) are the two main genre categories in classical Chinese literary studies.
韵文 covers anything with rhyme or fixed metrical structure -
诗 (classical poetry),
词 (lyric poetry),
曲 (drama songs), and
赋 (rhyme-prose). Modern free verse blurs the line.
