usage
Linguistics term. A Mandarin syllable splits into 声母 (initial), 介音 (medial), 韵腹 (nucleus), 韵尾 (coda), and 声调 (tone). Modern Mandarin codas: -i (in ai/ei), -u (in ao/ou), -n, -ng. Cantonese and Min preserve older -p, -t, -k codas.
