history
The Beijing site is named after a fishing terrace built there by an emperor of the Jurchen Jin dynasty in the 12th century. The guesthouse opened in 1959 for state visitors, and its ginkgo avenue is famous in autumn. In Taiwan 钓鱼台 also names the islands the mainland calls 钓鱼岛.
