Daoist counterpart of the Buddhist 寺 (temple) and 庙 (shrine). 观 is read guàn (falling tone) when it means a Daoist temple - different from guān 'to observe.' Famous examples include 白云观 in Beijing and 青羊宫 in Chengdu.
