道德 comes from the title of Laozi's foundational Daoist text, the 道德经 (Dàodé Jīng, 'Classic of the Way and Virtue'). 道 is the Way/path of nature, and 德 is the virtue that comes from following it.
usage
道德观 (moral outlook), 道德感 (sense of morality), 不道德 (immoral). The word 品德 (pǐndé) focuses more on personal moral character.
