mistakes

Read 还 here, 'to give back'. The two readings often meet in one phrase: 还没还钱 'still hasn't paid back', where the first 还 means 'still'.

usage

For loans, mortgages and credit cards the formal word is 还款. Between friends people just say 还钱, or split it: 还了钱 'paid the money back'.
