The everyday Mandarin name for Korean kimchi. A direct transliteration 泡菜 (pàocài) is also used but refers more broadly to pickled vegetables. In Chinese-Korean (朝鲜族) regions of Northeast China the term 辣白菜 is the standard menu word.
