About Zhao Yun

died 229 · 军事家 military leader

General of Shu under 刘备 in the Three Kingdoms period. In the novel 《三国演义》 he rides alone through 曹操's army at Changban to save Liu Bei's baby son 阿斗.

After he held off 曹操's army at the Han River by throwing his camp gates open, 刘备 said 子龙一身都是胆也, 'Zilong is courage through and through'. That gave the idiom 一身是胆, 'all guts', for someone fearless.
