《茉莉花》 (Jasmine Flower) is the famous Chinese folk song from Jiangsu province — known internationally since Puccini quoted it in Turandot. It opened the Beijing 2008 medal ceremonies and is the unofficial musical face of China abroad.
usage
茉莉 alone also means 'jasmine'; adding 花 'flower' is the everyday spoken form, especially when talking about the bloom rather than the plant. Jasmine tea = 茉莉花茶 or 香片 (xiāngpiàn) in southern usage.
