苞米 is the Northeast (东北话) and parts of Hebei/Shandong word for 玉米 (maize). It's colloquial and regional — in Mandarin textbooks and southern Chinese you'll only hear 玉米. The husk-wrapped 'bract' image gives 苞 its meaning.
