Tips

culture
Eaten on 腊八 (the 8th day of the 12th lunar month, roughly early January). The festival has Buddhist roots - it commemorates Sakyamuni's enlightenment, and temples still hand out free bowls. A traditional recipe uses eight or more grains, beans, nuts and dried fruits.
