肘

Left flesh-meat radical - the side form used for body parts, visually identical to 月 (moon) but a separate radical with the inner strokes meeting the frame as flesh-fibres. Indexes 肘 in the anatomy family alongside 胸, 腿, 肝, 脑 - every member names a part of the body.

Right 寸 - originally a hand with a marker stroke at the wrist showing the pulse point, the anatomical unit of one Chinese inch. Combined with the flesh radical, the compound reads 'the flesh-joint just past the inch-mark on the arm' - exactly the elbow, the bend a hand's reach away from the wrist.
