culture
On ordinary (not high-speed) Chinese trains the classes run from 硬座 'hard seat' through 硬卧 to 软卧 'soft sleeper'. A 硬卧 bay is open to the corridor, with bunks in three tiers, 上铺, 中铺 and 下铺, and the lower bunk costs the most.
