Serbian-American engineer who invented the alternating-current motor and power system that runs electric grids today. The car maker Tesla, what the name usually means in China now, is named after him.
His name is also the SI unit of magnetic flux density, the tesla (symbol T). Chinese physics books write it 特斯拉 and, like other long unit names, may cut it to its first character, 特: a hospital MRI scanner runs at 1.5 or 3 特.
