usage

牟 (móu) means 'to seek' with a strongly negative connotation — almost always paired with something shady. Don't confuse with 谋 (móu, to plan), which is neutral. 暴利 = 暴 (violent/excessive) + 利 (profit), i.e. profits so large they are considered illegitimate.
