Also written 滑菇 / 珍珠菇. The small amber caps are coated in a natural gelatinous layer, which gives both the Chinese 滑子 ("slippery one") and the Japanese name なめこ (nameko, "slippery mushroom"). Widely cultivated in northeastern China for domestic and Japanese-market export.
