usage
Technical term, almost always seen as a modifier or in fixed compounds: 测距仪 rangefinder, 激光测距 laser ranging, 雷达测距 radar ranging. Not used in casual conversation about everyday distances — for that you'd say 量距离 (liáng jùlí) or 测量距离.
