徐志摩《
再别康桥》 (Xu Zhimo, 1928), the most beloved modern Chinese lyric poem, written after revisiting Cambridge:
轻轻的我走了,
正如我轻轻的来;
我轻轻的招手,
作别西天的云彩 (Softly I am leaving, just as softly I came; I wave my hand in parting, bidding farewell to the western clouds). The poem closes with the same line inverted. Xu Zhimo was one of the Crescent Moon Society's founding poets; he died in a plane crash three years later.
