期房, qīfáng — pre-completion) is the dominant model in mainland Chinese real estate. The
样板间 at the
售楼处 (sales office) is the only thing buyers can physically walk through before paying. After the
烂尾楼 (làngwěilóu, 'unfinished building') crisis around 2022, buyers became much more skeptical of how showroom units compare to delivery.
