Personal name
朱厚照 (Zhū Hòuzhào). Reigned as the
正德 (Zhèngdé) Emperor. Notorious for the
豹房 (Bàofáng, 'Leopard Quarters') pleasure palace, leading troops in person at the Battle of Yingzhou (1517), and dying childless after falling into a river while fishing — triggering a succession crisis resolved by his cousin, the Jiajing Emperor.
