Thirteen of the sixteen Ming emperors are buried in this valley at the foot of Tianshou Mountain (天寿山), north of Beijing. The site is UNESCO-listed as part of the Imperial Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Only Dingling (定陵, tomb of the Wanli Emperor) has been archaeologically excavated, a controversial 1950s dig that damaged many relics.
