新用户 is a heavy growth-marketing term in Chinese tech. The verb pair 拉新 (acquire / pull in new users) and 留存 (retain) is constantly debated, and Chinese e-commerce / fintech apps are famous for aggressive 新用户 perks (新人礼包, 首单立减, 0.01元购) you can use only once. Hence the meta-game of 薅羊毛 (squeezing freebies) by registering with new accounts.
