Rooted in 《晋书·王浑传》: Wang Hun, after the conquest of Wu, received newly-submitted Wu officials so generously that his halls 座无空席,门不停宾 - no empty seats, a stream of guests at the door. The literal scene (generous hospitality) shifted to the modern sense (full venue).
