usage

实事 appears in the famous idiom 实事求是 (shíshì qiúshì, 'seek truth from facts'), a core principle in Chinese Marxist philosophy popularised by Mao Zedong and later Deng Xiaoping. On its own, 实事 means a real/practical matter or concrete task accomplished.
