Immortalized by Wang Han's Tang-dynasty poem 《凉州词》 ('Liangzhou Song'). The cups, traditionally carved from Qilian Mountain jade in Jiuquan (Gansu), are translucent and appear to glow when filled with wine — the line 葡萄美酒夜光杯 is among the most quoted in classical poetry.
