usage
坐车 is the generic 'ride a vehicle', while 开车 kāichē is 'to drive'. The 坐 ('sit') makes sense: you sit in a car/bus/train as a passenger. For taxis specifically use 打车 dǎchē. For free rides use 搭车 dāchē.
