Compiled by a Tang team under
令狐德棻 and presented in 636, together with the histories of the Liang, Chen, Northern Qi and Sui. Its 50 scrolls cover the Northern Zhou and the Western Wei regime of
宇文泰, father of its first emperor. Some scrolls were lost by the Song and filled in again from the
北史. It is one of the
二十四史.
