From Xin Qiji's (
辛弃疾, Southern Song) 《
西江月·
夜行黄沙道中》:
稻花香里说丰年,
听取蛙声一片 — 'Through the rice-flower fragrance, they speak of the good harvest; one listens, and hears a whole stretch of frog-song.' A canonical pastoral couplet, famous for associating frog-croaks with the promise of a full granary.
