Tips

history
The poems were grouped under this name in the 6th-century anthology 《文选》. Their authors are unknown, probably minor scholars of the late Eastern Han, and their plain five-character lines on parting, homesickness and the shortness of life mark the coming of age of that form. Each is cited by its first line, as in 《古诗十九首·迢迢牵牛星》.
