受冻 pairs the passive marker 受 (to receive / suffer) with 冻 (freeze), forming the same 受X pattern as 受罪 (to suffer hardship) and 受伤 (to be injured). Often co-occurs with 挨饿 in the chengyu 挨饿受冻 (to go cold and hungry).
