Tips

usage
去势 is the neutral, technical word, used for livestock and in veterinary and medical writing; 阉割 is blunter. For pets, everyday speech mostly says 绝育 (to sterilize). 势 here is an old word for the testicles, so the word has nothing to do with 势头 (momentum).
